Mot in the morning

Focus has its mot tomorrow...

I've looked it over and I am confident that if it doesn't pass it will be down to something like emissions that I can't heck myself...

Only thing I can physically see wrong is the centre exhaust hanger...there are two hangers either side of the exhaust tunnel, but only one is connected (now that I have welded it back on to the exhaust)...the other side has no rubber and there is no actual bar on the exhaust to mount to anyway

Will this be an issue? The exhaust is mounted solid, very little movement and no where near enough to make it contact the body. Rubbers have no cracks or splits either...just one side isn't mounted as factory

It depends how picky your tester is. I had to make a hanger and fasten it to the exhaust with a clamp because there was a hanger on the bodywork but not on the exhaust pipe and it had failed on that. It was just a piece of flat bar with a bolt through and a new rubber, tester was happy with it.

My centre mount was a cable tie fitted by garage #1 - it failed.

The rubber rings the garage #2 fitted failed in time for the next MOT at garage #3 which meant the joint was loose, this got away with an advisory.

I fitted 2 rubber rings for the last MOT a week ago at garage #3 and it passed, even though the mounting wasn't factory standard. The clips on the exhaust didn't line up with the hangers on the body.

I e got about 3M of stainless 12mm round bar in the garden so will knock one up out of that if needs be and will replace the other side too while I'm at it...not doing it unless it fails though as there is ice on the ground lol

It almost did...last mot I gave the megane it failed the first emissions pass badly...as I know the guy he let me get it good and hot before the next test...was all going well holding it at about 5 grand until an oil return pipe worked its way loose and threw plumes of hot oil and smoke out...garage owner wasn't best pleased with that haha

the blokes had the failure cert and the list was so long hes still reading it

or they give him the bill for all the fixes and he had an heart attack and is recovering in hospital

or as the mot tester put it on the ramp took one look underneath and is still rolling around the floor in a laughing fit and has not stoped

Good luck, I parked my 53 plate vectra in the garden two years ago when I brought my Range Rover and it has sat there since, untouched. My dad phoned me Thursday saying he desperately needed a car asap. Friday I booked it in, Sunday after the Grand Prix I went out and got it started, cleaned the mildew out and washed the algae off. I dropped it off at the mot station, breaking hard to clean the discs off. 10:30 Monday morning, expecting a catastrophic failure, phone call to say car is ready, all passed no advisories
