Hi folks back again with more questions about certs I went for a assesment on friday to see where i was at with my welding since its been a few years i was at college. The assesor thinks 4872 is my step but was wondering what the next step is after that ? And is MAG more or less the same as MIG ? Any help would be appreciated

MAG and MIG is just down to different gasses. MIG is inert gas e.g. Argon MAG is active gas such as CO2

Thanks for the info. Is pipe work the next step up from 4872 ???

BS4872 is the first step into coding and is a basic welder qual, if mig/mag is your only process look at structural steel codings where this process is commonly used.

Pipe is generally tig and stick and dual coding to ASME1X/BSEN287 in 6G position is the route to follow.
