been there done it......the colour wasnt the same and the pain runs very easily (Eggshell) ....F&B is far better......I often restore old furniture and always use F&B so I buy a lot.....often get it cheap off ebay but cant always get the exact colour wanted

I’ll agree with you on the quality side, and restored furniture definitely deserves it. The Valspar I find good enough for stuff at home. Can’t beat F&B eggshell, just a pleasure to use, especially if you use all their primers etc. I’m lucky enough to do a lot of the painting at my mothers place and she refuses to buy anything else - I just like the colours so go down the Valspar route and go over it when the kids wreck it...

And forget Dulux pro liquid gloss in rooms without natural daylight, like an en-suite. It goes yellow in less than six months!

Johnstones Trade gloss - my favourite paint for metal by a long way. I hate dulux trade.

Johnstones smooth metal is nice paint, but is a pain to brush and runs too easily.

Leyland paints for house stuff, For marine applications i use whatever i can lay my hands on thats good, Jotun is first class, Some international products, Some Hempels/ blakes stuff (except multicoat which is awful) but the best paint & varnish for the best jobs is made by dutch company Epifanes, it isnt cheap but its superb.
