I got a message from the other half earlier saying the D3 (57 plate 2.7 TDV6) was making a funny noise. Seemed louder down by the front grille. A clicking/tapping sound that seemed rotational (i.e. engine related). I suspected the aux belt tensioner pulley at the bottom left of the engine as you look at it as it didnt look great last time I was under the car and is on my list of things to change. By the time she got home it sounded normal and this noise had gone. It was a bit tappety clicky on startup for a second or two, but thats normal. Oil level is all ok. Its serviced every 10k by me and not due for about another 4k. It would have done around 5 miles when she noticed this so would have been warm.
I have a video but cant upload here raw, so if the zip file below has attached that might open the video. Any thoughts given the description above? I wonder if one (or more) of the hydraulic lifters was a bit sticky and its cleared - can that happen?
Once the D2 is MOT'd and back on the road, I am planning to take the D3 off of the road, do the timing belt, fuel pump belt, aux belt and tensioners and get those shocks from my other thread changed.
Oil pump has been changed as far as I know but will check when I get in there to do the timing belt - I wasnt planning to touch that unless it was the one without the strengthened casting. It will be on about 140k miles soon (57 plate) so is there anything else I should be doing as preventative maintenance?
