Been asked to investigate welding some extensions on top of the mooring piles where we keep our boat, as with some recent very high tides there was only 2 feet left to spare.
Now the piles themselves are approx 18 inches diameter with a 1/2 inch wall thickness, I thin there are over 50 of them, so I started to do some rough sums in my head, 4 feet of weld for one run around the pile, reckon at least 3 runs possibly more to bring the weld up to surface level, up on scaffolding 500 to 1000 yards from the car park, and I start to think bloody hell this wont be a small job.
I think even getting the extension pieces up there will be a challenge, never mind the prep work, bevelling, moving boats so they dont get sparked to death.
So any tips so I can justify my dont be daft we cant diy this comment, this is a pro job and will cost serious money?
