Monitor fault

My monitor has suddenly stopped working properly, it's about half as bright as it should be and there's flickering lines across it, a video says it best;

(Couldn't manage to take a picture without loads of weird artefacts all over it. The shaky video must be my phone's OIS getting confused. )

It was a second hand monitor I got cheap with a missing power button but it's worked fine for the last six months. The lines are present on top of on screen menus so it's not an HDMI issue (Also there using DVI and a different computer). Pressing/tapping/hitting all over it doesn't help. Every now and then it goes back to normal for a few seconds, then its gone again. It's an Acer S277HK.

Does it look like something I can fix or is it going back on eBay as spares/repair?

My last one went like that, I got a new one from ebuyer. They start under £70 for a decent size.

It's usually the caps in the power supply going causing a voltage fluctuation.
If it was cheap and secong hand it's probably end of life.

As in the power brick plugged into the wall (19Vdc input to the monitor) or the circuitry inside it bumping it down to 5/3.3v/whatever? Would it be worth having a poke around inside for marks on the circuit boards/components or would it not be visible? I suppose I've got noting to lose.

It looks like the model was released in 2015 so at most it's 4 years old, I'd hope for more life than that from a £500 (I think) monitor.

Not in 4k they don't. I split it into 3 or 4 windows as in the video and that doesn't really work on a 1080p monitor without excessive scaling. I guess I better start saving my pennies.

Can't see anything wrong unfortunately and reassembling didnt fix it as is sometimes the case.

My TV is from 2008, was very very expensive new.

Its had a main cap on the power supply and all the dust blown out.

If it's an external supply I'd say the screen is failing, those brick psu's seem to last forever in my experience
