Slightly off topic, no actually quite a long way off topic. I had, and have still got a BMW R80GS. It's got a five digit odo. I used to do a round trip of 150 miles every day to work. I always had the 'bike MoT'd at the same place. Any way one year between MoTs the speedo went over 99,999 miles and when I went for the next MoT the mileage was already about 15,000 miles. I asked the tester if he could put 115000 miles on the certificate as I was quite pleased with the miles the bike had done. He refused and said he could only put on the certificate what the odd reading showed. This was, of course in the days before MoTs were computerised.

A random MoT man - not my usual Dai the MoT - confused the buyer of my old x200 S-Type. He randomly prodded the button to cycle the display and successfully changed the odometer to kilometres and entered a reading somewhere north of 160'000 - just a tad more than the 100k miles I had advertised as!

Do they bother with hidden back up keyholes these days or do you have to drop your trousers and bend over for the main dealers

I have keyless entry on my Tucson...I really can't see the point of it to be honest.

Remote central locking with a key has worked well for decades....and don't even get me started on the push button emergency brake (I won't call it a hand brake because that would be doing a dis-service to handbrakes everywhere!).

I can't tell you the number of times I've walked away from the car...then had to go back because the blooming engine is still running!

I quite like the switch handbrake its just not obvious when its on or off.....suprisingly mine rolls if I dont put the handbrake on when on an incline....its automatic so I didnt expect it to move.

It doesn't have a clutch to engage. Torque converters engage at a set rpm

mine has "auto hold" which must admit is quite useful...so at a set of traffic lights you pull up and it stops, shuts off the engine and sticks the brake on all automatically....then when you hit the accelerator it puts the engine on and takes the hold brake off.

I imagine would be no fun to fix when it goes wrong....only issue is that you have to switch on the auto hold each time you get in (very annoying!).

The push button handbrake is ok with the auto box...I mostly forget and just stick it in park to be honest. All the stop/start stuff works alot better on an auto....I had it on a manual and it's just annoying!
