£2.6m is not a lot in the scheme of things for a company such as Forgemasters. Most likely it saddled with debt it was struggling to service and the government had no choice but to take ownership.

I'm curious about the announcement some weeks ago that the UK was to start building a commercial nuclear Fusion reactor. That was a surprise.
Apparently, 13 different locations have made bids to be the home to the new unit. Two of them are in Nottinghamshire, both within spitting distance of the Rolls factory across the border in Derbyshire. The current Minister of Science has her constituency in Derby. Sheffield is hardly further way.
I think it's a damn good thing to have the means of production of some essential items, whether it be cutlery, false teeth, lawnmowers or submarines, in your own territory.
