mobility battery

My Mrs has one of those powered chair things, when shes not using it for a while I charge it and disconnect the battery box. I was checking it a while ago and forgot to disconnect it. It was left for ages and when I checked it the batteries were flat, I tried charging but it wasnt having it. I checked the batteries and one was reading 0.2v. Can they be revived or should i just buy some new. They are quite old.
I've found some the same make but slightly higher Ah at 22. £160 a pair

You could try to recover them but you could never trust them to be reliable again.

Are they the same as stair lift batteries? I bought 2 of them to replace the old ones in a stair lift in the house we were in before we moved to a flat. I scrapped the lift but kept the batteries as they are only a couple of years old. They are 12v with flat spade connections. It will be Monday before I get back to the shed to check their Ah. If they are of interest to you I will send them on.

u really must check around that seems quite expensive.....
look at m/cycle gell batts for a start....
I had an v early elec bycycle.....bad batts as always ....changed the carrier for m/c batts to fit....never looked back and 1/2 the price....

Thanks for the offer, I looked at stairlift and they are lower Ah and have spade connectors, mine has bolts

Are they AGM? Check on Tayna Batteries to see what they have.

Worth trying to recover them...I've found AGM tend to recover a lot better from low voltage vs liquid batteries.

It's the main reason I fit AGM to cars which don't get frequent use.

With liquid batteries they "may" recharge...but I find the capacity (ah) can be severely affected and they're often never the same again.

@fizzy was investigating similar upgrades and might have some current (sorry!) product info.


I've had great results in the past recovering AGM batteries using an elderly smart charger ( Optimate4), you have nothing to lose by leaving it on charge for a few days

Sounds expensive. We have a couple of stair-climbing sack trucks that take similar batteries to mobility scooters, and have had sensible prices and good performance from this lot - similar looking battery to yours is in at £80 for the pair

Indeed. LiFe PO4 are a game change. Now as cheap or even cheaper than lead acid. Can be charged with a normal mobility charger. The ones I bought were far bigger. Will check some out for you. Had mine off ali express arrived in 3 days.
