I had one when chip and pin was relatively new, it had a T-mobile SIM card inside
Other than the 3%, that I added as a charge on big payments, it was cheap and easy to use. It was also a way of me offering credit as people could pay on credit cards.
Most annoying thing was the 3 day wait for funds to "clear" however I don't know if that's the case any more
Similar story here, We use world pay, it allows either chip and pin or internet payments, works for us as no monthly charges just a one of purchase price for the reader. https://www.worldpayzinc.com

I have used it for a couple of years and the big attraction to me is the lack of monthly fees. That is normally around £30 a month and it makes a big hole. You will pay a higher commission and the same percentage whether debit or credit cards, but it is still worthwhile. If you find that you are taking more than you expected, you can go onto a graduated scale of commission / fees.
The other handy point is that it is Bluetooth, so you can use it out in the field too.
As AJ says, Also no minimum use so although you have to pay for the reader as an initial cost, this is soon recouped as no monthly rentals are incurred. I also have a referral code but mines only a tenner discount.
My Mrs uses zinc on her shop. Little chip and pin device Bluetooth to pc,tablet or smartphone for Internet access. You buy the devices and pay a small percent per transaction. There is a PayPal version too
