To be honest I would say a Drummond m type cross slide would be very close to fitting

I have just measured the old myford Drummond M and that's 37.21

Ah, it's a lot smaller than it looks - the one I have is 60mm tall overall.

Can you do a sketch of the dimensions on that casting? I might have a chunk of iron that's suitable to make one from.

I will, but I'm off to a gathering of rusty old tat on Saturday (it's where this beauty came from a couple of years ago) and I might be able to find something there.. Roughly its 130mm x 60 for the main body.
