in return for his CNC machining help on my long term french hatchback project i agreed to weld some seat bars ino Spankys golf so he could fit his bucket seat...
now.. i wont lie.. i hate MIG welding.. with a passion.. no real reason to justify this other than i dont do it often and therefore arent that good.. BUT he`s a mate.. and i owe him.. so..
he brought me a couple of bars he`d used to convert a basemount bucket into a sidemount type:
(the CNC work on his ally sidemounts was top notch i dread to think how much they`d be to buy!!!!)
the bosses were TIG`d up (hurray) and all that was left was to MIG (boooo) some reinforcing plates in to the shell and the bars across...
weld thru zinc primer between the plate and shell and a coat of etch primer once done..
despite my hatred of the MIG the welds weren`t too bad... (a **** sight better than my photography thats for sure!!)
2 days on and apparently he`s still sat upright so i`ll call this a success!!!
