My brother runs a Mk 3 Fiesta as a track car for using at Knockhill. It has been extensively modified including a full cage, 2L Mk 1 Focus RS engine bored out to 2.1 with cosworth pistons and rods and alot of other upgrades that i dont really pay much attention to when he waffles on about it!
He asked me to make him up a removable front slam panel to aid easier access to the turbo, radiator etc and for easy engine removal should it need it.
(before the health and safety police come along, let me say that the front slam panel is not structural and is merely somewhere for the bonnet catch to catch on, and is not needed as aeroquip bonnet pins have been fitted, so the car will not fall apart(well it might as it is a Ford afterall
))
first pic is of it all fabbed up and test fitted. Made from 1.5mm mild steel, cut with 1mm disc on the grinder and folded to shape on my box and pan folder.
Second pic is of it all fitted up after powder coating
