Missing delivery

The boy ordered apprx £400 worth of tools to be delivered at work, from a tool catalogue outfit, he's getting me the name tomorrow. He got a ping from DPD saying delivery complete. No one at work has a clue, they are a small tight bunch so if anyone has had them away and gets found out it would be worse than getting the sack!!

DPD say they have been signed for, I have told him to get them to send the electronic POD.
Thats a lot of money to him and he still needs the tools..

Anyone had experience of this and would recourse be through DPD or the tool company?

The tool company would have to process a claim with DPD directly (we use them at work).
DPD can tell exactly where the package was signed for as the POD is stamped with the GPS coordinates from the handheld terminal.

Just chase the supplier to figure it out.

That is very handy to know, he thinks as they are on an industrial estate it could have gone to a number of outfits.

Don’t forget that if payment made by credit card then the issue can be sorted by them if you have proof of non delivery to purchase address.

I had a similar experience before Christmas, £300 of chopsaw supposed to be delivered to argos click and collect from an on line tool supplier, allegedly signed for to the DHL driver buy someone at argos, parcel never arrived at argos, but because there had been a signature neither DHL, PayPal, nor the tool company would accept responsibility, I got my money back but had to raise a fraudulent claim with my credit card.

Not sure about debit cards, but if nothing else works its worth a crack.

Dpd are usually pretty good, but none of them are infallible .
I usually get my parcels redirected to a shop so I can pick them up at leisure.
Be interesting to see what the PoD says, but at end of day it should have been delivered to your boy at the address on the parcel (or someone else at that address).
They shouldn't be delivering it anywhere else, and if they did it should be their problem.

Yeah, you get extra protection if you buy on credit card - always worth remembering for large or online purchases and such like - I tend to use mine like a debit card and then pay it off in full every month (this is super important as you will get stung for interest if you don’t pay them off!!).

Point one... your contract for the sale and safe delivery is with your supplier. Until it is in your hands, the supplier is in breach of contract. It is not down to you to chase around looking for it.

Point two... a credit card has the benefit of Section 75 CCA protection for purchases between £100 and £30,000.
A debit card does not have that protection, but many banks have a voluntary chargeback scheme so always worth speaking to your card issuer, especially for lower value transactions.

use the cctv cameras against the dpd done it before they soon had there tails between there legs running to check if it had been delivered or not

theres just no arguing cctv evidense

Argos did go back through their cctv and came up with nothing that size delivered on that day at that time, but their system is so antiquated they couldn't copy it to a memory stick for me.

Argos must be charging DPD to allow them to use click and collect. Or Ebay....so between them they need to sort it out.

Meant to update the outcome of this yesterday, noises were made to neighbouring outfits, friendly next door outfit had taken it in...
Box with clear name, company & address had been opened, but no items missing.

Some chancing scum bag clearly saw the light.
