New to welding fellas, so I might be asking some dumb questions! I looked at some reviews and thought bang for buck one of the Chinese machines might go well. I hardly ever weld anything, but I’m keen to learn and do some work on mower trailers, dirt bike trailers and general block fence welding.
The Mishto is an inverter unit that allows gas free MIG and stick welding, so I thought I’d give her a go.
The manual is absolutely useless! No diagrams for set up or settings. It doesn’t even have diagrams for assembling the unit, so I chucked some .9mm CIGWELD gasless wire in, tweaked the feed and she seems good.
My question is simple: if I connect the MMA stick while the MIG handle is also connected, will I be able to switch between the two options with both connected (making sure my earth polarity is right)? I mean, will striking an arc with the MIG work while the stick is sitting unused?
I’d ask because it’s a pain to unwind the 4.5KG wire reel, now that she’s set up and feeding.
Pics for clarity.
Any advice or suggestions (except maybe ‘throw it in the bin and buy a Lincoln or Miller!) would be welcome.
