I have hit a problem with this GSX1100ET I am doing up, it’s been stored for the past 9 years and I thought I might as well sort it out. I have stripped the carbs, replaced the needle valves, set the float height, unblocked a few jets and put them back on.(and what a faff that was). It starts and runs great when its on choke but any throttle kills it dead. Ah Ha, must be mixture I checked No 1 sure enough it had been turned out 4 turns probably to compensate for the blocked pilot jets, The trouble is that the pilot screws on No’s 2 and 3 are solid. I cant move them either way, Has any one got any suggestions for shifting a brass screw in a ali casing without buggering it up.

A couple of sharp taps usually does it on carbs I've had dealings with. I had some Diversion carbs that were absolutely green festering things and they were treated to some brick acid (mortar cleaner from Screwfix does the job) but don't leave them in too long and rinse them really well after.

I'd start looking real soon, the last couple I have seen sold in original ish condition are beginning to fetch good money. Mind you I have owned two bikes in my youth that I wish I had kept, RG500 and a CBX. I would have to sell the misses to replace either now............Hmmm now theres a thought

Make sure you have a perfectly fitting screwdriver or you'll knacker the slots. Clean the slots out too..
A sharp tap with the side of a pair of pliers on the screwdriver and a tiny bit of heat from a heat gun / missus hairdryer should do it.

Thanks chaps, looks like I am taking these things out for the 3rd time. This time they are getting totally stripped and are going in the ultrasonic tank. It's what I should have done the first time
