Minimal rocket stove pipe diameter ?

What is the smallest possible diameter of pipe that could be used to make a basic rocket stove body ?

i have 5" fire extinguisher body which is 2mm for rocket stove with a 4" stainless steel vortex chamber

I havent gone below 4" vortex chamber due to the mass of the gas bottle ( is 3mm ) being moved as sometimes it struggles to work properly

i have the bigger firebox on mine not the length like the one above

Would have to agree with Gaz1. I made one out of a fire extinguisher too and only used 3" tube it was a bugger to get it lit and keep burning I would go for bigger next time round.

The permies forum (experts on rocket stoves) reckon that 6-8 in diameter is optimum.

there plenty of discussion on whats the best with rocket stoves some quote the cob style is the best via the mass of the system in earth style
some flick over to the steel type and some do a hybrid of a rocket stove

the 2 latest stoves is ppottys hybrid rocket stove and garys stove a stainless steel build capable of reaching temps of 1800F also the shirley temple due to rising star on the forums via preheating of the firebox making the log gas off

dont bother with the rocket stove book its a big con theres plenty of rocket stove info all over the net and youtube is full of info, dont even bother with the video either its old info and hasnt been updated for years
