I always wanted to buy every panel and build a whole new mini

never realised people had been leaving comments! not ignoring anyone, just been rather busy and my email alert thingy seems to have died
looking back its been about 5 months! not a lot has happened pickup wise but a lots been going on elsewere, now in a much smaller workshop unemployed and pickups living in a container untill i restore my mates pickup (he has money, i dont) spit is now in about 7 bits so it could be transported, so will be sleeved and bolted back together in due time.
times have been a bit tough but managed to avoid selling the pickup at least

oh and mr hardtop, was looking at a pickup spare wheel clamp on ebay the other day, sold for £46! minimachine (or m-machine if you dont want bmw to set there lawyers on you) do rear light panles now apparently, bit late though

yeah, best of luck, man...When times are tight...it seems they are REALLY tight these days. Ive been scrambling a bit lately too....truck died, root canal, you know...normal everyday stuff...

nice looking mini, and nice looking spit too. just out of interest, what is the best way to mount the car to the spit?

I am looking into buying a defender 90 resto and want to make a spit for that but have no idea how to mount it so I can weld the floor and sills without it loosing its shape

Why would you want to weld the floor & sills on a Defender?, they're bolt on panels.

also sills and floor panels are alloy only chassis, bulkhead, and door frames are steel the rest is alloy

fair enough, cheers octo, will just replace panels that are damaged then and weld up the chassis as there is a fair bit of rust on it. had been sand blasted to be coated and then after being blasted the current owner lost interest and rebuilt it to get it on the road, nothing to protect the chassis at all
