Be UBER careful with splatter against the double glazing, it melts into the surface then continues to rust for a very long time. In my case i'm still paying off my parents for the damage! Fortunately it doesn't show on the plastic, but the windows 'bled' rust after it rained.
Someone may be able to correct me if I'm wrong, but as those patches are close to a structural member (i.e. the sill) and part of the floor I think they may need to be fully seam welded not just tacked.
Otherwise tidy metalwork.
Have you braced the door before cutting the sill? I don't know how important it is on a mini but most cars will flex and the door gap close up if it's not braced in some way.
Yes, the floor panel was seam welded. Just tacked at the time when the photo was taken.
I really should of braced the door beforehand yes, a friend of mine stated that the doors didn't flex MUCH on his mini so i am hoping it wont be much work. Ooops.
Thanks very much for your comments though, really appreciated.
I work for a double glazing firm and you would be surprised how often that happens! usually the customer begins screaming at you about how crap these rusty upvc windows are before you've even got out the van! they usually shut up pretty quick when you ask them if they've been doing any grinding or cutting of metal nearby
The only thing we can do to sort it out is if its a small area that's affected is to pick out the metal filings with a stanley blade as best you can and then sand the area smooth again with say 600 grit wet and dry then 1000 grit and then buff back up with a sisel mop in a drill. Not perfect but the best way we've found so far.
