Mini circular saw, WORX 400W 85MM CIRCULAR SAW WX423

I see thee are at £50 in BnQ, anyone got one, i think it would be handy ( easier than the full Evolution circular saw i have ) for thin ply and other board aswell as cutting 25mm battens. I will be cutting a lot of venerred ply so want a good/easy cut.

I have one and it has proved useful but the difficult thing about it is you can't see the front edge of the blade so it's very difficult to stop at the correct place. Also the blade guard thing is infuriating, you need three hands. I guess you could maybe tie it up to defeat the guard.
So - useful but there may be less annoying versions around.

If you have "other" cordless tools with decent li on batteries you can get the bare cordless 160 mm circular saws for ~100 quid - much more useful I think.

I have the Bosch one and it's been superb, cutting through various thickness of ply, mdf and work tops as well as chopping a load of 6x2 to length. It's a very handy size, small enough to be useful (compared to a "full size" one) but a big enough blade to cope with most things you would reasonably want to tackle.

It's a very handy size, small enough to be useful (compared to a "full size" one) but a big enough blade to cope with most things you would reasonably want to tackle.

I only like the cordless drill and rivers, for this kind of work i prefer corded tools. Aslong as the batteries can have the brushs replaced it all i need form them.


I have been looking at reviews on the net for different kinds, i dont fully believe them though as many folk hav etold me some companies get folk to give false feed back.

I was a bit sceptical about cordless saws too but the builders who did our extension had a Makita one and it was superb, that persuaded me to go for the Bosch one (I already had drills and angle grinder with batteries from Bosch). It s really a cracking bit of kit.

I've got one but not a work one. brilliant little tool .
I've use loads of times and my son used it when he fitted a new kitchen.
for me it was a good investment.

Yeah fair point - the worx one seems ok but I had some work tops to cut so went for the bigger one. If your only doing thinner stuff then it would probably be ok.

as I said the basic saws are ok its the fence and angle gauge that aren't that accurate

It will not be use on more than 18mm ply, on that i would use the Evo saw.

I have yet to use the fence and any guides, i always have used rack ov the eye lol, maybe why all my jobs are wonky.

But B&Q will be easier to return on warranty.

Today is the first time in maybe 6 months i have been in, i always shoot for the tools but at the entrance they had a load set out, a slide saw ( £70 ) and roller stand aswell, i think that was about £70 aswell. I would love one but not much use for that.
The deals are on there web site i think. And as you say about the warrany, they will jsut sort it for you.

On my Evo saw it has a slot in the base tothe side of the blade edge for this. to see when you are at the cutting line/edge, a thought just now, drill a 4 maybe 6mm hole in the base to see the the line you are cutting to.
