Min breaker size for radial

I have a spark coming out tomorrow to connect a fused spur for a replacement boiler, its last minute with this guy as the spark I already had booked to do the job was apologetic but had found a weeks work in London which is fair enough.

I'm supplying the parts and this new guy is adamant the radial has to go on a 20A breaker, I understand that is the max size for an A2 radial but knowing this is a dedicated circuit for a boiler would have expected a 6A/10A, I didn't think it contravened the regs to put a lower value breaker in bu hes said it does.

Is that correct?

if its a radial from your db 1,omm cable will be fine on a 6amp mcb . the boiler requires a 3 amp fuse fitted in the fused sw spur. the word tosser springs to mind

There is no sutch thing as minimum size as long as it meets the requirements, you could fit a 0.5amp MCB if that's all you needed.

Cheers brightspark, yes direct from CU, 1m away. If its wired in 2.5mm is it still compliant to have a smaller breaker in?

I arranged with the original guy to do the prep work and chased the backbox/fished the 2.5mm up the wall for him. Oh and labelled it. the new guy is only round the corner so nice easy £60 for him to come and connect to CU, test and give me a bit of paper but insisting it has to be a 20A dont seem right, especcially as the immersion breaker a few slots up is on a 16A

just connect it in yourself and tell him where to go. u can even connect it on to the ringmain in db if its on 2.5mm cable as a spur

no its an existing circuit just spurred off . its not in a bathroom and not in the kitchen
