Milwaukee drills

is £400 a good price for a Milwaukee m18 one app drill and impact driver with two batteries and a case I'm off to the shop to get one tomorrow if it's not a bad price so I thought I would ask first and are they better than makita because I wore the chuck and berings out in the makita drill in less than 3 years and since I've lost the paper work I can't claim on waranty so I'm getting the Milwaukee if you lot don't say the price is too much

My brothers electrician friend recommended them and with the makita not lasting that long it's put me of them

Not sure about that price but I can recommend the Milwaukee as a top quality piece of kit. I've used the m18 impact gun and drill and they're both awesome. M18 impact makes the snap on look like a toy

£400 doesn't sound terrible if its fuel

Best prices I've seen tend to be on FFX or Milwaukee Tool Store. My only experience of Makita has been NiMH batteries and brushed motors. The fuel kit I have now makes my old stuff look like a toy. If anything the drill is potentially too powerful... Snapped a fair few drill bits when they've bitten into steel, I've taken to sometimes drilling with it in screwdriver mode to make use of the clutch rather than snap my wrist which is the next thing likely to go.

Their grinder is superb as well. I started off with their big torque wrench and that thing packs a serious punch. Has yet to fail at undoing anything.

Really good gear
The drill is by a clear mile the best of the 3. So light and small yet silly power

I have a bunch of 12v Milwaukee. Only one is fuel, that's the hex drive impact driver. I have a small driver with a hex chuck, a hacksawl which is a mini sabre saw, a torch and a battery vac.

The vac isn't much use but the rest are great . The little saw has paid for itself already and I've only had it a few months.

I still use my very old Makita 18v percussion drills occasionally. I bought some no name batteries for them recently and they are still going but if they died I would probably get the Milwaukee fuel purely as I have batteries and they are pretty good.

punch the model number into ebay and search e.u , ive been watching impact guns and theyre a few quid cheaper from germany

You can get 12v fuel impact guns even cheaper off US eBay but when you try and add the warranty it is looking for a UK supplier address and won't let you put in a US address if you are domiciled in the UK.

I bought mine from the states (2nd hand) - about £60 - £90 each, delivered.
I got 2x m18cpd drills, and an impact driver

This was pre-brexit, so maybe closer to £80 - £120 each now?
Batteries and charger were extra - I got three batteries (new) plus a new charger for just over £100.

I love em - they get used every job and have never let me down, whether driving coach screws into fence posts, drilling middleton bricks (which are rock hard, and eat drill bits/drills) or running flapdisks.

If they ever break, I'd have no qualms about repairing/replacing them.


I'm sure toolstation)/screwfix were/are doing a drill/driver set for £279?

2-3mm run out on your drill chuck is pretty crap mind. I need a dti to see mine.

I know it's crap that's why I got the new ones it's just I thought it's got to be worth something even if just for the impact and batteries and v
Charger i know the drill hasn't lasted long before something happened I was expecting a bit longer use of it but nowt I can do about that
