I,ve managed to confuse myself
I've bought a new suds pump for the bridgeport mill , the mill is 3 phase and so is the pump.
I put the jumpers in for delta and wired it up and flicked the switch, it ran for a few seconds then tripped the overload on the contactor I reset it and this hapend half a dozen times.
Thinking that the overload is faulty I wired it up to the spare aux contactor and it runs and the overload didn't trip BUT after about 20 seconds of running the motor was quite warm.
I don't really want to fry a new pump so i thought I would ask for help.
I have it wired as per the drawing on the right just now
