Miller Syncrowave 300p .... generator

Hi folks pleased to meet you, i wonder if you can help me, i have just got an old Miller Syncrowave 300p and a lot of bits for it, It is my 1st tig, it's big like me
and single phase? ......As a lot of old good tools are 3phase and i'm lucky? to work at a scrap yard and a 3phase generator came in.It is 12.1/2kv so 380v max ,will do single phase as well, so can i run the tig off it ?? as it looks like it would eat £10 on fire up>>>

Nobody knows so I'll have a stab. I've got a Syncro 300P too! Brilliant machines, single phase with adjustable input voltage. Take the side off to find the jumpers to set the voltages. Instructions inside the side panel on mine. Most will have a setting somewhere near 220V (mine is 208V and works). Otherwise will run 415V from 2 out of a 3 phase supply.

Setting them up is fun - the transformers are massive and take a huge current rush on switch on. Mine is plugged into a 40 amp type D (but would need 110 amps to go to max setting). I don't turn it up all the way - no need to weld main battle tanks.

Size of generator required to provide that in-rush current would be house like.

Miller still do free manuals for them on-line which are very good.
