miller migmatic 383 to run on single phase

hello

i have a miller migmatic 383, the manual seems to suggest that my welder can be run on 3 phase @ 22A OR Single phase @ 38a.
The input wiring diagram is very vage tho it says to wire live and neutral into l1 and l2 and earth to earth
i opened up the welder and inside it has a allen bradley 100-c23*01 breaker thing lol with a push switch that springs back when you let go.
and written on the side of the breaker it has different voltages/kw rattings and settings like ac1, ac3 but i dont quite understand it.

any help would be great

Allen Bradley thing is the main contactor and the ratings are irrelevant in this case. I am confused when you state 3 phase but then say there are terminals marked L1 & L2. If there is no L3, then this is a 2 phase machine which may work on a 240V UK supply of sufficient capacity. If there is a terminal marked L3, then this is a 3 phase machine and will need to be fed with 415V 3 phase to work correctly.
I can't find any reference to the Migmatic 383 on any of Millers tech sites, the nearest is the 380 model and this shows as a full 3 phase machine.
I hope this helps you but if anyone knows differently, I am sure they will let us know.

hi not sure but i think single phase as 3 wires and 3 phase has 4,hope this helps,tom
