Hi,
I've recently acquired a nice single phase 230V Miller AC/DC Econotig, but am a bit perplexed when it comes to the wiring bit. All the this electric stuff is a bit like black magic to me
The welder is rated with input 52amps at the maximum output of 165amps.
A couple of questions, bear with me:
Will a 50amp MCB keep tripping if I run this direct from the consumer unit (located in the garage next to the welder) ? 50amp is the max MCB I can get for my unit.
I have no spare ways in my split load consumer unit (located in the garage). The last one being taken up by a 50amp one for my shower. Looks like I'll need to run an aux 2way garage or shower type enclosure, and swap the exisiting 50amp MCB to power the aux enclosure. Will this be Ok as long as I'm not taking a shower whilst laying some welds down?
Can I run the welder via a standard (blue) 32amp plug and socket for convenience, without burning the house down?
The input cable (approx 10mm sq for each conductor)for the set has given me the clue that you cannot run this from a 13amp plug
Cheers
