Hi, I bought a Miller Dialarc HF-E, the black face model on ebay. I knew it had problems with the rheostat but was working apart from that. I brought it home and sure enough the rheostat was worn through in places. I contacted the Irish Miller distributor who I have to say was helpful. He sourced me a new rheostat. He told me that he could tell from the serial number that this machine was made under licence in Italy. It has a BAE systems sticker so it came from the UK at some stage. Anyway my problem is some genius in Italy decided it would be a great cost saving idea if all the wires in the wiring loom were black. As well as the rheostat being damaged, somebody snipped off the connectors off 4 wires going up to the rheostat area. I traced the wires back through the loom and took photographs. Maybe somebody will be able to tell me which wire goes where? If not I will ask the Miller distributor to have a look but this should hopefully be an easy fix.....
The photos show where the wires go to, there is another wire which goes to the socket for the foot pedal not photographed.
There is also a long block connector which I assume is for the optional extra switches on the front. I can post that later.
Thanks for reading this, Liam.
