Mild Steel Prices

Just Phoned my local supliers this morning and got some prices which i thought were ok, views anyone ?

Box Section 25x25x2 7.5M lenth £11.50 + VAT
Angle 25x25x3 6.0M lenth £8.60 + VAT
FLat Bar 25x3 6.0M lenth £4.40 + VAT

Thought theese were quite resonable

Yep same prices as my local supplier plus a tenner for delivery, he drops his prices a fair bit if you buy a lot but he's talking over £1000 worth for the reduction to kick in.

Are you getting your steel from Cumbria steel stock cumbriasteve? He delivers from Whitehaven to where I live Greenhead (60 miles) away for £7.50. Funnily enough the nearest steel stockist is Carlisle and he charges the same. Steel is a lot more expensive as well. Pays to shop around

I do and I live 2 miles from the depot..what quantity are you ordering?

I order a good amount getting on for nearly £1500 last month. Had to buy some from Thomas Grahams in Carlisle for someone who wanted a job done quickly and got a big shock. 50x50x3 box was £23.75 from CSS was £35.86 from TGs. Its a big cost to pass on.

That type of amount probably explains it, I only buy half a dozen lengths at a time now.

If I was spending what you are I would be arguing any delivery cost, T&G always were expensive...used them once years ago... note the 'once'
