Mild steel hex bar

is mild steel hex bar readily avalable? I know you can get bright hex bar but never seen mild.

Yes, that was my understanding as well.

bright is the same metal its just been cold worked. This gives it closer tolerances to size and flatness etc

Yeah it's hot rolled black bar that I'm looking for. Cold rolled bright bar will be too expensive for the application.

What sort of lengths? There is an engineering company near me that concentrates on the the hydraulics industry and their scrap bin is always full of hex bar ends upto 600mm long.

I'm going to be needing prices about 1500mm long so off its arnt really an option.

Just had a look and 10 off 3.05-3.6m lengths (the length varies) of 16mm is £64 so roughly £2 a meter plus vat.

I've looked at buying steel from parkers but the only deliver to a cirtin area iirc.

For large orders they use their own trucks, for small orders they use TNT Next Day or 48 Hr delivery.
I have had stuff delivered to our home address as well as a National Trust car park in the middle of nowhere, I had to give lat. and long. coordinates so they could find it on Google Earth!
