Need to order some new batterys was going to get 3ah ones as I don't use them all day every day tho did I read somewhere people are getting more grunt out the tools with higher AH battery I thought it was just the time they lasted
I'm on Mikwaukee not Makita but the principles shouldn't change.
I can see a massive difference in power on an impact wrench - i.e the 3ah just makes the gun rattle on tight nuts to no avail whereas the 4ah get them loose pretty quick.
If it was on a drill then from a good brand such as Makita I doubt if a 3ah would be lacking in power unless you're doing unusually demanding jobs, but 4ah will give a little more - and 5ah would give a little more still, and so on.
I buy the "fake" batteries and have had no problems with them but maybe I've been lucky. I object to paying virtually the same for a battery as the tool including the battery and charger.
my 'golden dragon' Makitas worked well for 18 months maybe more but then battery 1 failed spectacularly - flames and smoke. Battery two is still ok but I dont leave it near combustible materials. I think they were seven quid each from e-bay.
Next time round I might look for something a bit more reputable
