Hello i was thinking of getting a tig welder, i have seen this for sale local to me for £450 it comes with torch and clamp but no pedal...
It looks old to me....is it a good tig welder?...is it worth it?
Thanks
I had one. Welds very nicely.
You will need at least a 32a socket minimum.
Sold mine a few years ago for £300.
£300-350 seemed to be the going rate for them then. Can't imagine they are worth much more now?
I think pretty much every part in them is replaceable so they might not be a bad investment if you don't think you will need portability at any stage.
I had a bigger "3 phase" MTE 440. I think it was single phase multi-voltage and used two conductors to give 415v.
It welded aluminium on AC really nicely lovely soft smooth arc. The current draw was the biggest downside. I sold it on because it was surplus to requirements, to a gentleman whose own 440 had died, but he liked it so much that he wanted another.
