Migs in Leicester

Hello all,
I have never done any welding, and I am looking to spend £200 on a mig very soon. I will try and do some work on my MR2, I am confident about learning to use the mig as I am quite a hands on diy-er. Looking at Machine Mart, but wonder if I should go to a welding supplies shop. I will be going to leicester, are there any recommendations for leicester?

Machine mart is fine, but they are a retailer, not a welding supplier. The biggest difference between the two is a welding supplier has vast knowledge and a stock of spares, should something break, you will get far more support from a welding supplier than a retailer.

As far as a welding supplier in leicester, i have no idea, but the people of this forum come from far and wide, so i guess someone will give you a recommendation. There are two welding suppliers that contribute to this forum, diywelding and weldequip both are a good source of knowledge, and carry spares like any good supplier

My MIG came in the post from Weldequip up in Lancashire. Postage isn't expensive and you can get support on the forum . Definately a good idea to go for a specialist supplier - not any more expensive and it's good to keep them in buisiness.
