Does anyone know the spec for the wire feed transformer - the one sat on the PCB - or where I can get one?.
I've seen the whole PCB on the net for £44, but I'd rather just replace the cooked transformer.

If weldequip cant supply a new transformer, I bet he can give the primary and secondary voltages that you really need to know and if youre really jammy the va rating as well..

Otherwise try maplins, if there arent any markings on the old transformer and it is cooked (ie no output voltage to check) then you need to get a wiring drawing to get the same type.

You need to know:

- the supply voltage (more than likely 240v), this you should still be able to measure on the cooked transformer, cos itll be the secondary side that is more than likely stuffed.

- the secondary voltage which could be anything on the one thats been cooked, but would guesse at 12v (but it could be higher),

- but you need to know the minimum va (watts rating in all but name) rating which is also a bit improtant.

But again if its for the motor feed its unlikely to need more than say 2Amps on the secodary, so a 24va one (minimum, bigger is better due to losses in the transformer) or bigger would prbably do. The va rating on the new one needs to be the same or bigger than the one thats cooked. The va rating isnt crucial as long as you get one rated at the same or bigger than the original, then it just comes down to physical size, will it fit?

If the worst comes to the worst I would try a 240v primary, 12 v secondary and 24 va minimum. If the supply voltage on the cooked one isnt 240v, then you need to get more information as it could start to get harder to choose a suitable replacemnt.

If you cant get hold of the orginal spec one from SIP (Im sure a phone call and they would tell you what the electrical size of the transformer should be) at a reasonable cost I would try this

If its a pcb mounted one (and not a chassis mounted one just bolted to the pcb) have a ratch about on the website they have them as well.

If you give the model, Im sure someone on the site will be able to measure the primary and secondary voltage for you which would help just a tad.

You really need a bit more info, but I bet that one above isnt too far off the mark.

But remember that without checking the voltages and a bit of digging about, its is possible to ft the wrong one, which may (but probably wont unless the secondary voltage is too high) damage more of the componenets on the pcb - my little disclaimer there lol.
