Hi all, I bought a Mightymig 140xt. It welds OK on gas & wire but the bottle don't last very long. I was told to use flux wire but it splatters so much it sticks the splatter to the job and it needs grinding off. What is wrong?? I do not Have a instruction book for the mig. On the front panel it has knob to change the wire feed, a switch with 1&2, A switch with min&max, On-off that is all, I sent a E-mail to Sealy power welders for a instruction book but no joy, Is there any members who could E-mail me with a copy or solve the problem for me. cheers Dougmaz in Australia.

Apparently, flux core wire (gasless) does splatter. There's nothing you can do about it. It doesn't sound like anything is wrong, but I'm no expert. You'll need to hammer off the slag coating afterwards if using gasless wire (to check your weld). Lot of people here recommend using the big bottles as they work out much cheaper. You might need a different adapter or regulator though, but I don't think they cost much. You'll be saving compared to the small bottles anyway. Pub C02 is cheap and others seem to be using it. I can get a 14lb bottle for under £20 where I live.
