Hi Jammy, I am involved with the design and project management of industrial process plants for a large minerals company. Every day is different but typically I work with process engineers, scientists, project managers, project engineers, civil engineers, structural engineers, electrical engineers, purchasing staff, financial staff and suppliers. I develop ideas with the draftsmen, prepare costings and feasibility studies, set engineering standards, do troubleshooting when machines breakdown, engineering calculations and mentor aspiring enghineers.
I recommend you have a look at the Institution of Mechanical Engineers website. There is lots of good stuff there. It is a really good institute to become a member of. You can also become a registered engineer via ECUK (Engineering Council UK) at EngTech, Incorporated Engineer or Chartered Engineer.
Good luck, I wish more people would consider engineering as their profession.
