Migatronic Mig Wire Feeder powered from a Tig Welder??

Ive just brought a brand spanking new AC/DC 250Amp Tig welder from R-Tech..

Ive also got a old Migatronic Mig separate wire feeder that i've found in the bottom of my workshop...

Would it be possible to use the TIG and a power source to power the Mig??

I'm pretty good with electrics (I re-wired my workshop) but I cant seem to work this out coz i've never had much to do with the actual internals of welders....

Anyones help would be much appreciated

Do you mean use the tig welder to mig with a wire feeder ? Someone will explain to you why it can't be done in detail but basically one uses variable current and the other uses variable voltage or something.

Hi TT,I think you'll find the two transformers have different characteristics,tig/stick are constant current,whereas mig is constant voltage,hope this helps,regards,Mick

I did read something about making TIG welding easier by having a autowire feeder.

There's a video about using it for round parts, I suppose you could also use it for really long welds.
