Migatronic 3 phase & 1 Phase 240 wiring...

Hi, I've just picked up a Migatronic older transformer, a LTE 200. It has a switch for single or three phase and I'll only be (hopefully if it works) using the 240v single at home.
Thing is, it has the 5 pin red large plug on it as it has only been used as a 3 phase machine. My question is,

"Can I just put on a large blue 16A 3 pin plug instead? If so do I just pick 1 of the 3 phase wires from the welder as a one of the 3 lives?"

Can't remember how it was wired but you'll probably need at least a 32a supply for it

I think you will struggle to run it. The manual says it needs 25a.

I think the one I had was an mte220 (so a bit more powerful) but that would trip a 32a breaker when it was turned on. I ended up adding a delay timer to turn the fan on separately.

Providing your 16a outlet has a 16a breaker fitted you can't do any harm by trying it.
Are the wiring instructions not in that manual somewhere?

I can't see anything in the manual, I don't think. Some manuals are super thorough, this one not so much. Unless I've missed something.

I'm no sparky by the way but I did put this consumer unit in over the garage.

I so the lights are on the 6A circuit breaker, plugs on the 40A. Should I wire a 16A to the plugs and use the 40A and wire a dedicated plug for the TIG?

Armored cable then a short run of 2.5 (only a couple of foot but the armored was too short).
What job? No-one in their right mind would employ me!

Suspect 2 core and earth flex used.
Your instructions indicate power to L1 and L2.
Suspect unit is 2 phase primary winding 415/240 v by selector switch setting.
If this is correct, change the plug.
Check which conductors go to L1 and L2.
Connect these to active and neutral.
Change switch to 240v setting.
Unit rated at 25 amp on 240v.
You will have to kit out with 32 amp connectors.
In rush at switch on will be interesting.
Maybe a 27 or 32 amp D curve circuit breaker will hold in.
You have some issues to be addressed.
First-ensure whole cable supplying fuse board is 4mm.
Second -rating of protection for fuse board supply cable.
It has to provide discrimination with your D curve circuit breaker protecting your welder.
This may have to be around 40amp.

My 220 worked ok when hard wired to a 40a D type breaker.
When I moved and put it on a 32a socket I had to modify the fan to avoid tripping the 32a breaker on startup.

Thanks for that, I don't suppose you'd have a diagram I can't quite get my head around your explanation. Yes, the power is a 3 position switch (off in the centre, 240V left and 440v) right.

No, 3 pin single phase.
I think it was running single phase when I got it.

As said above, just open up your red plug and see what wires you have and what pins they go to
