I bought this welder of a chap who was retiring, just found it at the back of the garage the only writing is mig2000 Anyone got a clue the model or manufacturer? I would like to try a bit of hobby welding , would this be worth getting this up and running as a newbie? Or better getting a new one . It looks well engineered. What gas would be ok for practice work ? Many many moons ago did some gas and arc at college as part of boat building apprenticeship always thought one day try an improve on that . Any tips suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks

That's certainly a lot of machine for single phase 120A @ 35%. Do you have the torch?

Sorry, I can't tell you who made it but, if you have a torch, try it. If you have to buy a torch to get started, I'd look at a small inverter welder - but that's just me.

Think is a " special car" I have one identical apart from name and mines red.
Believe they were bought out by Cebora many years ago.
If its like mine it's a very smooth machine but I would check internal wiring. Especially the mains ones as they were rubber covered single insulated in mine and insulation was cracked and falling off do I rewired before using.

The stitch timer doesn't work on mine but although I'm an electronics engineer I haven't bothered to look at it as don't use anyway.
I'm using CO2 and 0.6 wire upto 3mm steel good on 1 to 1.5 too.

Hi, I've been asked to look at this welder for a friend, which isn't striking but would like to find a circuit diagram before going to see it. Does anyone recognise the make? Sorry but these are all I have!

My spool of mig wire isn’t included in this sale ! PCB just recently sent away for diagnostics and repair, the bridge rectifier was replaced, this cost around £100.

You can see that these are similar devices, but this mig from ebay has a 6-range switch, and the one from the thread only has 4 ranges...
