Hi all
I need to replace the ~5" long section of 2.5" dia flexi on my 1-series exhaust
I believe it might be a stainless exhaust, despite the corrosion.
my question, which does sound like it has an obvious answer, is should I use my regular Mig wire (mild steel), or should I use the stainless mig-wire that I picked up from Machine mart a while ago ?
I am an inexperienced welder but I seem to be doing OK with MIG in general when I need it. I haven't done any stainless mig welding though and bought the stainless wire when I was performing the 'remove a nightmare McGuard style locking wheel nut' procedure.
I suppose although it seems obvious that I should use the stainless wire, I wonder if perhaps I'll run into difficulties doing it, and whether it might be more brittle.
Here's what the section looks like.
