Mig welding advice needed

Hi im quite new to mig welding and have welded my van and a few other things but i can seem to get a very neat weld im finding i have to grind it afterwards to make it look ok. Im only welding tin im not sure i have the settings right my wire feed is on setting 5 and the gas is on 4 is this wrong any advice would be welcomed, my welder is a cebora 155 twin boxer the wire im running is 0.8 which was in it when i got it also the gas im using is just co2 ive heard co2 and argon is better does it really make much difference any other help or tips would be great thankyou.

Grinding off afterwards is a fact of life on cars -- at least, on bodywork. Argon/CO2 mix will generally produce nicer welds. You might try 0.6mm wire. Flapdisks are a lot nicer, easier and produce a better finish than grinding disks.

Hi again thanks for the replies so far i forgot to mention my welds are also blobbing up is this to do with the settings or because im using the 0.8 and not the 0.6 or somethig else? thanks.

Could be the wire speed too high or poor contact (base metal not cleaned enough). Unless you're welding upside down, in which case it's pretty much inevitable.
