Hi all,
I have recently bought an Uptime MIG160 MIG WELDER after seeing a bunch of good reviews in the forum.
However, I have a strange issue, and I'm not sure if the welder is faulty or I'm using the wrong settings.
It seems like the current and the wire feed are pulsing: it runs fine for one second, and then both the arc and the feed stops for another second, and then works again, and stops again etc... To the point where my masks goes transparent again between pulses. It almost looks like the machine is "cutting power" after just one second, and then starts again (all while the trigger is constantly pulled and the gas is running fine, and there is no relay sound between pulses).
I thought it was a feed tensioner issue, but if I press the "feeder" button, the wire runs smoothly, and so does when I press the trigger away from the metal (so there's no arc). So this might be connected to the arc? I also have adjusted my wire feed speed and the voltage to the point where it sounds correct and the bead looks nice. But it's very uncomfortable to be welding in "bursts", it doesn't allow me to play correctly with the pool.
Sorry I don't have a video at the moment, but I will upload one, this evening. In the meantime, is there anything that comes to your mind?
Thank you very much
