MIG WELDER FAULT.

Yesterday while welding a motorcycle exhaust, the CO2 switch got stuck open and was spurting gas even when I let the trigger go. When I tried to do some more welding with the gas constantly flowing out I could notice that the welding arc started when I touched the wire tip to the workpiece, without the need to pull the trigger.
I reckon something has blown off...do you guys know what can be the damage??

in this order:triger switch,triger cables,or the relay will be your problem

Without looking, no! But above is a good start.

No mention of the make or model of welder, so could be anything.

if the wire doesn't feed until you pull the trigger then its the relay stuck

Trigger isn't being pulled.

Arc starts without the need for it to be used, so suggests something is stuck, but more than "a" relay.

he doesn't state the wire is feeding constantly thought so the relay could be the cause its the only thing that switches power to the welding transformer

Suspect a sticking contractor if it has one, a relay if not.
