Hey lads,
Got a mig mag welder 200amps. Some german brand, older model. It has a switch 220v and 380v. I had some troubles at home with electricity supply and ran the welder mostly on 220v. After fixing the supply issue i went to change the power plug on the end of the welder. Once i opened it i was confused. There are 7 wires. 4 phases connected to l1 and l2. 2 phases on l1 and 2 phases on l2. There are 2 ground wires connected, and one neutral wire not connected. Ive seen before the neutral missing out. But never have i seen l1 and l2 being connected with 2 phases, while l3 hasnt got a single one. Im bit confused, anyone knows whats this about? I started the welder like so and it works, but i still worry. Im i running a 2 phase or 3 phase welder? Why are there 7 wires? Heres a pic, if anyone has an idea help me out.
