When I eventually come to replace the 'gas diffuser' on my Impax IM-MIG 120A welder, is there any way to tell if it's either a left or right hand thread, as there's nothing in the manual?. I don't want to knacker the thread on it.

Unfortunately, that was just a screenshot from eBay, so that there was no confusion over the part. I'm hoping to find out shortly, but don't want to cross thread anything.

I've contacted Impax to see if I can get a definitive answer.

I've discovered that the neck of the torch is similar to this and is a MB15, I believe. Is the gas diffuser fixed on this type of neck or removeable? I've tried again this evening, but it won't budge.

Think you will find that is all one piece. But just to add to your confusion I thionk the spirel for the spring and the spring itself is aviable in left and right hand twist !

You can get the whole swan neck cheep enough but jsut check the thread on the other end. Should/may be an M10 x 1.0 (metric fine) thread IIR.

I was starting to think that. There's very little information on these things for the beginner, in my opinion.

I've been mig welding about 15 years now...don't think I've ever changed one of those...I usually find the torch itself starts to fail before I ever need to change the diffuser
