MIG & TIG gas combo?

I have the bits in my sig and am due to choose a TIG. I (try) to weld mostly M/S 1.5 - 6mm thick and S/S 1.5 - 6mm thick. I already have ArgoSheild Light & StainSheild Universal. But will the TIG "need" Argon? I mostly want to use the TIG on some of the thinner S/S, but; I don't have the room for three bottles.

Can I use Stainsheild for the TIG or does it have to be Argon?

Can Argon be used too for the MIG on S/S and M/S?

You can't use Stainsheild gas designed for Mig for Tig welding, its Ar/He/Co2 and the C02 will erode the Tungsten and cause porsity.

You need Pure Argon or Ar/He Mix for Tig welding.

Although some on here would disagree, I wouldn't use Argon for mig welding anything other than for Aluminium.

The only way around it, would be if you Mig Brazed your Steel and CrNi, then you could use Argon as your shielding gas, but its only really suitable for thinner materials and the cost of the filler wire is very expensive and would probably outweigh the advantages of only having 1 bottle of gas.

I just don't want 3 bottles! My workshop is starting to look like one of those Chinese puzzles (where you have to move one square so you can move another). I'm not happy about it, but until something else comes up...

What I'd really like is a small country with good lighting...

you can use argo shield on mig for stainless but you get backish dull welds.
