MIG not working 'under load'

Hi all,

My 160A MIG (generic chinese style welder, bought through a local distributor) has been a real trooper but I suspect it doesn't like living semi-exposed to the elements in a car port in a temperate environment.

It now powers up but dies when I complete the circuit, i.e. try to lay a bead. Then it sits there and kinda comes on intermittently as in this video:

Then it needs a good rest but will do the same all the time I try to use it.

Any ideas?

hi Everyone
I'm new to the forum and thank you in advance for any help I can get. I acquired this Parweld xts162dv and at the moment it's completely dead. No lights or display working on the front panel. I wonder if anyone here has got service manual or diagram for this welder or similar please or any idea where i can buy it. I tried to google it but no joy so far. Any clues would be much appreciated. Thanks

Mine did the same and it was the work return (earth) lead that needed changing. I guess when I put the welder away after using it wrapping the lead up for storage it had broken down internally over time.
