Mig issues

Finally got a mig welder after months of looking. Got a fresh bottle of gas today and iv just come to use it and not working as it should. The problem is that one mine the wire feeds out the next it won't. Iv watched the wire motor and it look to me like the rollers
aren't grapping the wire tight enough, I have righted the screw right up and it no different. Iv also took the rollers out and cleaned them up an still joy any ideas please??

Are you using 0.6 mm wire in the 0.8mm groove?

Is the spool too tight (or has it a high spot)? This would cause the wire to drag.

Also check the rollers are parallel, if not they will tighten against each other, rather than on the wire.

What make & model is it?

the wire is 0.6 I'm not sure on the grove size. There are 2 groves on the lower roller, should the wire be sat in a grove?

The welder is a wait for it .................... Sureweld monomig 101 old I know

One groove will be for .6mm wire, the other for .8mm. The roller should be stamped accordingly, but be careful, I believe some rollers are stamped with the size nearest to the relevant groove, others so that the size is visible when the roller is the correct way round for the wire being used,

You take the roller off and fit it the correct way round for the wire used, and yes, the wire should sit in the groove.

It's possible that you have 1.0/1.2 mm roller, but not likely, again markings should confirm this.

i belive its gas, b ut i only tried it with normal wire and no gas and it splattered all over. seemd ok now with gas init. i'll have a look at the roller markings

seems to be ok now it was in the wrong groove nice simple one

my gun gets very hot under use and the button kills my finger i need to adapt it some how, any ideas???(pic to follow)

Is that the trigger ?

It looks like it should have some sort of lever to push on the button.

Damn ! no wonder your finger is worn out.

Maybe a quick fix would be a strip of thin metal fixed to the front of the torch with a jubilee clip that goes over the button to give you a sort of makeshift trigger.

i thought there was something missing aswell, i end up with a hole in my thumb at the end
