Mig for Bug?

Hi i am looking for a welder to weld my vw beetle - any help would be apprechiated in the choosing of this welder

If it's the only project you are likely to do, buy something like a small or medium Clarke (say 135 or 151 to 160) and sell it when you've finished.
If you prefer nice things and are likely to use it more in years to come buy a Portamig 181 or 211 off weldequip.

I'm doing to Ovals and have decided to go for the Clarke 160TE, as it's about middle of the road and you never know what my next project will be.

Gas is the preferred from what I've read on this forum.

If it's mainly thin sheet welding, ie.car bodywork, I would definately go with gas; they run a lot smoother & gas-less tends to be a bit fierce on thin stuff, blowing holes in it.
Also consider how much work you have to do. If it's the odd patch up every other weekend you will be fine on disposable gas canisters. If it's a ground up restoration go straight onto a refillable type cylinder, as you will save yourself a small fortune in gas costs.

Just bought a Clarke 160TE from weldequip - most car work is the same, thin panels and the odd chassis leg etc. wihch is a bit thicker.

Looking fowrard to using it soon, when I get the gas sorted.
