MIG brazing

What are the requisites for MIG brazing?
Some manufacturers claim they have MIG machines/models specially suitable for MIG-brazing, BUT what are the parameters required to make a traditional MIG-machine suitable ? I.e. what technical specifications to look for ? Thanks !!

Brazing is a lower heat so it requires a lower voltage.

Machines like the PortaMIG that go down to 15A can be used.

There are high-end machines designed for brazing alloys that would need to maintain a specific heat input. They are expensive.

Have you priced a roll of brazing wire? I think i paid less for my Clarke than a 5kg roll costs

I remember TechnicaL saying that the Lincoln SP i70 had the correct welding parameters to suit mig brazing even though it was not sold as a mig brazing set.Search and I'm sure you will find the thread.

The reason for this thread is, I currently have an option to buy a used ESAB MIG C240pro, going down to 20 Amps.
While the PortaMig (and others) go down to 15 Amps.

So the question is, will 15 Amps mean notably better MIG-brazing conditions compared to 20 Amps?
(I'll try to braze bodywork on Citroen 2CV:s. THIN sheet steel, 0,5 - 0,7 mm).

Btw. I bought some MIG-brazing wire from the States, 2 lbs @ 16.95 USD.
Not that expensive ...

Hmm, I had only seen mostly 30lb rolls of wire for near $350. A few 11lb ones of off brands.

I'd suggest a PM to weldequip or Matt1978, they know more about MIG brazing equipment.

Might be helpful if you know the voltage settings of the MIG. Hard to say if the 15/20A setting are for 0.8mm or 0.6mm wire.

I do it with my MM185 all the time. I bought two 22# spools of .023 Crown Alloys wire for 20 bucks off ebay. This was way before everyone jumped on the wagon and ran the price up. I have 2 tanks to make from galv sheet and i plan on welding up the seams with this wire. I will take some pics as i go...Bob
