Anything worth salvaging from a microwave before it goes in the skip?

Ours went pop the other day and just wondering if there’s any bits I can “liberate” and trip over in the garage for the next 3 years before finally throwing them out

I usually grab the big transformer.
Got a few now for my future spot welder project.

Then the fan/motor board and big capacitor just 'cos they're shiny...

Worth sometimes keeping the glass plate in case you break one.

Turn table motor.

Magnetron for fun
Power cable and plug.
Glass plaater. Good bird food.

Door glass. Flat to hold wet n dry for sharpening tools.
Door hinges.
To name a few.

You don’t say it has been replaced (as yet). I would be looking to find the fault and decide if it is worth fixing, before skipping anything.

Our microwave is well over 25 years old and still going strong. It has received fairly infrequent but regular attention in that time-frame. My previous (Tappan) only became unusable due to the electronic key pad failing after about twenty years. Not attempted to be fixed (if it was possible) because the new lady brought her microwave with her, when she moved in.

It let the magic smoke out quite spectacularly and I’m loathe to spend much/any time faffing with it only to find it doesn’t work or fails again in short order. I think it’s at least 20 years old, and is generally a bit tired anyway so we’ve had our moneys worth out of it.

I don’t mind ripping it apart and taking stuff out, but that’s about my limit.

A tiff should know it's limits.

Yes.
The outer clamshell, usually a "U" shaped sheetmetal piece.
Just about right size to encircle behind your bench drill press, keeps the chips
from flying all over.
Easily removed/moved for longer pieces.

Huh; I have a pile of four dead m'waves and nothing from any of them fits another.
I bought a so-called 'universal' roller ring and it fits none of them. Still, I believe that if I make an adapter for the centre cog, I can make one of the other glass plates sit slightly higher on the roller and get working that way.

Directly to skip, do not pass go, don't even bother pulling the fuse from the plug, you'll never need it nor will you ever find it.

Only 3 years ??? Surely one for the house clearance people, like all my stuff. If its stainless, might be worth cutting up the case. At least it will be flat and take up less space !

Hang on though, might need a piece with a nice bend in it. And the plate might be useful. And the feet.

Badabec is right though. Just get rid of it. Then you can kick your own ar%e in a few weeks time
